Stock Market MiniGame

MINIGAME STARTED

(All your actions don’t have to be in capitals, but it certainly does look cool…)

Hello, before we continue, the prize for winning this minigame, is 5 Million YEN.

And to the rules:
- You will have 5 1/2 days to play, effectively making a 6th day.
- I will only count OS YEN to decide the winner
- You will start out with 100 million, but this is fake money
- You may ask for how much money you have
- There can only be a sole winner who takes the 5 Million YEN.
- You must do one action a day. The only exception to this is Day 1.
- If you choose to CREATE a stock, you end the actions you are doing in Day 1.
- A STOCK is destroyed if the stock becomes worth 0 yen. If all Default STOCKS are destroyed, no one wins.
- You cannot LOAN money to someone on the last day.
- If you are going to join the minigame during the game, you must wait one day. During that day, you will control, with maybe a few other people too, a 10,000 stock share. This share will be called RSH, or "Random Stock Holders".

Explanation of OS and IS:

OS – Out of stock

IS – In stock

Gameplay:

For this minigame, there will be five stocks available, each stock starting with a value of 1,000 YEN. The total amount you start out with is 100,000,000 IS YEN. This means you have a total of 100,000 stocks. As such, with five stocks, the amount you have in each STOCK is equal:

STOCK 1 – 20,000 stocks
STOCK 2 – 20,000 stocks
STOCK 3 – 20,000 stocks
STOCK 4 – 20,000 stocks
STOCK 5 – 20,000 stocks

On Day 1, your starting action must be SELL. To SELL, you sell a certain amount of stocks (greater than or equal to 1,000), and the amount those stocks are worth, become your OS YEN. So, this is what happens:

If you SELL 10,000 stocks in STOCK 2, you gain 10 Million OS YEN.

Because you now have 10 Million OS YEN, you have a choice to BUY stocks or LOAN the YEN. To BUY stocks, you buy X amount of stocks that do no exceed the amount of 10 Million YEN. As this is Day 1, you can buy a maximum of 10,000 stocks, or a minimum of 1,000 stocks. To LOAN YEN, you send each player a minimum value of 1 Million Yen. If you LOAN YEN, you give them OS YEN. However, you can either choose to LOAN with no interest (meaning they do not get the message) or LOAN with interest (they get a message).

However, they can ask if they are in LOAN without interest, and they can either choose to pay it back, or let stay there. To win the game, you must release the leash of LOAN though, regardless of how much YEN you have.

To CREATE a STOCK, you must pay 100 Million YEN to the market. This doesn’t mean you are out of money though; this just means that 100,000 stocks you have are placed in the stock you have created. Player STOCKS, however, are a bit more useful than default STOCKS; if, on the last day, you have stocks in them, you automatically ‘cash out’. However, the person who creates that stock gains 10% of all profits; including his own (this is completely different when he is the only person who owns the stocks, because then it functions like a normal STOCK). On the first day of creation, the STOCK also functions like any other stock.

This is an example scenario, with four players and four STOCKS, on a 3 day Game Period:

Player A
Player B
Player C
Player D

STOCK 1
STOCK 2
STOCK 3
STOCK 4

Day 1 (Overall):

Player A decides to do nothing.
Player B decides to create his own STOCK. He then reveals to every other player he has done so.
Player C decides to sell all his stocks, and places them all in Player B’s STOCK.
Player D decides to sell all his stocks, and places them all in STOCK 3.

Day 2:

Everyone’s YEN amount (IS and OS) is counted.

Player A is worth 50 Million YEN.
Player B is worth 200 Million YEN.
Player C is worth 200 Million YEN.
Player D is worth 125 Million YEN.

Additionally, the stocks are worth:

STOCK 1 – 250 YEN
STOCK 2 – 250 YEN
STOCK 3 – 1,250 YEN
STOCK 4 – 250 YEN
P. STOCK 5 – 2,000 YEN

The Actions for Day 2 (Overall):

Player A tells everyone he will destroy STOCK 2 and 4. If he does so, the cheapest STOCK will be STOCK 1. He sells all his stocks in STOCK 2, 3, and 4, and dumps it into STOCK 1. He has 184,000 stocks in Stock 1. The rest is equal to 4 Million YEN OS, and he LOANS 1 million yen at no interest to every player aside from himself. He keeps 1 million for himself.
Player B notices STOCK 2 and 4, and sells his P. STOCK 5, to buy STOCK 1 (it is the cheapest stock)
Player C also buys Stock 1 to his limit.
Player D will lose money if he continues to stay in STOCK 3, and so must decide between P. STOCK 5 and STOCK 1. He buys 50,000 stocks in STOCK 1.

Day 3:

STOCK 1 – 18,500 YEN
STOCK 3 – 900 YEN

Player A – 3.7 billion YEN
Player B – 14.8 billion YEN
Player C – 14.8 billion YEN
Player D – 1.016 billion YEN
(I think my math is bad on that, but that doesn’t matter. But if it did, you see why I’d die from the debt…)

Player A wins in this scenario, because the other Players did not return the LOAN.

PM me to sign up if you're interested. The game starts from tomorrow, July 22 12 PM EDT, to the beginning of July 27th EDT. Additionally, I've given the stocks name (if you create your own stock, you can give it a name, select a random name, or simply go with the default choice).

Stock 1 = Shueisha
Stock 2 = Allied Telesis
Stock 3 = Konami
Stock 4 = Lexus
Stock 5 = 77 Bank

It just sounds confusing, it's really simple.

I need more than 1 person to play. If we don't find more, I'll just put up another day of wait. If we don't find a few for like 2 days, I'll give up on giving the 5 million ye.

I'll play. Out of interest, what determines how much a stock's value changes each day? Is it random?

Itll most likely be Supply and Demand.

As Supply Increases , Price Decreases
As Supply Decreases, Price Increases
As Demand Increases, Price Increases
As Demand Decreases, Price Decreases.

Re: Stock Market MiniGame

Post  Furer Kip on Thu Jul 22, 2010 11:31 am

Okay, I think I've got all the players:

Glass
Lespar
Sarah(?)
Kiria
TruAnonyman
Bad Player
Yume

Okay, that's enough players, but I'm still welcoming more. Yes, Supply and Demand will determine the price. So if you buy a lot in one stock, it rises, and if you sell a lot in one stock, it falls. So anyways, I've decided to start this game 11 hours and 30 minutes early, so you now have a Day 6 (kind of).

So, if you want to do an action, you may choose to PM me or post it on the Forums. You cannot do invalid actions, and they do not count for the action a day.

If you so wish it, I will have your character sell his own stock, and then buy them again, on the day you see fit. Anyone can do this manually, but if you cannot make it for a day, then I will do that for your character.

Each Stock, at the beginning of the game, is worth 100,000,000 YEN. You all own a piece of it. Each of you own 17,000,000 of each stock, so you all actually have 80,000,000 IS, and 20,000,000 OS from now on (I didn't foresee this problem, so thank God for OS).

Each individual stock that you can buy, however, is worth 850 YEN.

Post  Furer Kip on Thu Jul 22, 2010 4:38 pm

Oh, sorry then, I didn't know you were, since you never hinted towards that. I'll recompense with this I suppose (since you're basically interrupting a day). Right now, you are given 10,000,000 Yen that you must use to buy stocks with (you can sell too, but only after you buy. At the end of the day, ~10,000,000 Yen must be entered into the market, or what you did over the entire day is waste). The total amount of stocks you use WILL remain in the game, if you manage to use all the money. You will be given 100,000,000 Million tomorrow, in which I will tell you where how your stocks are placed.

But for today, spend 10 Million Yen in any of the stocks.

Actually I think you did it wrong. Because according to the rules of Supply and Demand

As Supply Increases , Price Decreases
As Supply Decreases, Price Increases
As Demand Increases, Price Increases
As Demand Decreases, Price Decreases.

BUT

Shueisha – 120,000 stocks
Allied Telesis– 60,000 stocks

Shueisha – 850 yen
Allied Telesis – 425 yen

So According to the Laws of Economics, The price of Allied Telesis Should be Over 1,000 yen

Btw, If you do change it. Then i sell 20,000Sheisha and Buy 20000 Allied Telesis before you change it.

I changed it earlier, because there was too many players for 5 stocks (6 players, 5 stocks). Each stock was worth 850 Yen yesterday, and you have 20 Million OS to start out.

And there wasn't any demand for Allied Telesis, no one bought many stocks from it, so it dropped. But there's an infinite supply of stocks that can be bought, so only the demand fell.

You can join, but you'll be a RSH, Random Stockholder, and you won't be able to play with all your money until tomorrow. Today, you'll be given 10 Million Yen which you can choose to add around that much money to the market or simply leave it alone by not filling the requirement for using it. You don't take any disadvantages if you don't put 10 Million Yen into the market, it's just something you can do.

Okay, and we end Day 2 with smiles and glory, while nearly everyone yesterday was losing money, it seems Vegas has turned a few more cards over on you...

Day 2

Shueisha – 65,000 stocks

Allied Telesis– 267,000 stocks

Konami – 60,000 stocks

Lexus– 40,000 stocks

77 Bank – 297,750 stocks

CiNG - 100,000 stocks (PLAYER)

P. Stock 1 – 50,000 stocks (PLAYER)
---
Day 2

P. Stock 1 – 500 yen
CiNG – 1,000 yen
Shueisha – 470 yen
Allied Telesis – 1,890 yen
Konami – 430 yen
Lexus – 300 yen
77 Bank – 2,125 yen

Glass – 130.3 Million Yen
Lespar – 353.4 Million Yen
TruAnonyman – 483.9 Million Yen
Yume – 151.3 Million Yen
Kiria – 100 Million Yen
Bad Player – 100 Million Yen
JigSaw – 152.7 Million Yen

Additionally, the issue of ‘loaning’ money; since it’s been brought up, I’d just like to say, you must tell me you are lending X person, X amount of money. I’m saying this to be clear. You cannot just ‘pretend’ you’ve lent them that much money, unless you ‘pretend’ with me.

Tbh. I really think you did it wrong. EIther that or the game doesnt work.

You cant only look at it from a demand point of view. Because then the game would only be about buying one stock. (I.e I sell everything and buy Lexus, Then according to your logic Lexus will rise in price. And i can just sell it off straight away.

I believe the game needs refining. Like, an actual Supply, Maybe the game should of been. Trading between players or something.

Never the less I sell all my shares and buy Lexus. So thats 153Million Yen in Lexus

Err, it does work like that, but you're probably not going to see to this post anyways. Perhaps you think this game is closed-minded because there are too little stocks, and each player has too much of a say (you all originally had 100 million Yen, and that market was entirely your money, plus each of you were originally 1/6 of the market, when there was only 6 players). So saying, I added a few more things to this game, that add more than just "increase price, delete, increase price". In fact, the person who is currently winning has been winning since yesterday, with none of you knowing. The person who you think is winning, is actually in last place.
